Group’s History
The group of NanoElectronic and PHOtonic Systems (NEPHOS) was established in 1997 by Prof. Lluis Marsal, Prof. Josep Pallares, and Prof. Josep Ferré Borrull, with a primary focus on the development of nanoelectronic and photonic systems. Their research on nanostructured alumina and organic solar cells has earned international prestige and recognition.
Over the past two decades, the group has supervised over 100 master’s students and more than 40 doctoral candidates, published over 300 academic papers, and organized over 60 international conferences and workshops.
The group’s flagship event is an annual summer workshop held in Tarragona, in collaboration with the the Department of Electrical and Automatic Electronic Engineering (DEEEA) of Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), in Tarragona-Catalonia, and the American Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) . The most recent edition of the Graduate Students Meeting on Electronic Engineering took place in Tarragona, in June 27th and 28th, 2024. The 1st edition was the Nanoelectronic and Photonic System Workshop, in June 21th and 22th, 2004. Subsequent editions were on 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023.
